Role & Expertise

Nicki Holmes works as a Speech & Language Therapist in mainstream schools and colleges across Birmingham, whilst also supporting a specialist setting for youngsters with Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs in Dudley. 

She works with children from nursery age up to young adults.

Before moving into independent practice, Nicki worked in the NHS as a Children’s Service Manager, bringing a wealth of leadership and clinical experience to her role. She now splits her time between Soundswell and running her own independent practice in Worcestershire. 

Interests & Specialisms

Nicki enjoys working with youngsters who present with a range of speech and language challenges and has a developing interest in working with students who have SEMH needs. 

She is enthusiastic about developing the skills of staff across a range of settings through the delivery of bespoke training and workshops. 

Nicki has recently co-authored two new screening and intervention programmes for EYFS and primary schools to use to develop children’s phonological awareness skills and attention and listening skills –Soundswell Attention Listening Intervention (SALI) and Soundswell Speech Screening Intervention for Phonological Awareness (SSIPA). 

Nicki is now an Associate Director of Soundswell, which means she will be more involved in the service contract review meetings, support for the team and other important jobs to help Soundswell continue to grow.
