About Kate

Kate’s work includes both NHS and independent work – working in mainstream schools and nurseries across Birmingham. 

Interests & Specialisms

Kate originally planne to be a teacher, but felt the rigidity of the curriculum would be a constraint and instead, trained as a Speech & Language Therapist. 

Kate has been qualified for over 20 years and has always worked in educational settings. 

She has a special interest in Early Years, with her NHS work including roles on Autism Diagnostic pathways for under 5s, Children’s Centres and Specialist Nurseries. 

Kate is trained in Makaton, Attention Autism and BEST therapy, she loves to deliver training to share knowledge and expertise.  She has recently co-produced and delivered SWIMS training.

Kate’s son has significant SLCN and SEND. She is a strong advocate for SEND and has been invited to an awareness raising event at Westminster. 

Kate runs a Girl Guide unit and finds her SALT skills invaluable in supporting girls and young women to succeed.
