Arden Primary school staff are now very much ‘Word Aware’!

On June 8th Soundswell therapist Hayley delivered a full day of vocabulary training. The very practical and easy to understand ‘Word Aware’ approach (Branigan and Parsons) was central to the training.

Being able to deliver targeted interventions to support vocabulary development is not just about understanding the theory – the strategies and ideas that will make a difference are key.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Sendco reported that staff felt excited and energised and had already begun to put things in place and plan for future support/intervention. Staff groups made a point of e-mailing Hayley personally. This is what they said.

Thank you very much for delivering the training today. I can speak for all of us when I say that we have come away with many useful strategies and tips to implement in September, be it with small groups or individual child interventions. There was a lot of useful information given and we particularly enjoyed the fact that we actually worked with the children to put into practice what we learnt, on the same day. This made it fun and really helpful as we were all able to overcome anything we were unsure about.

Congratulations to Hayley for doing the excellent job she always does – and congratulations to the Arden Sendco who had the foresight to see the value of supporting her staff to do the best for every child.
